There are two main types. Which one fits best depends on your symptoms, risk factors and preferences.

Indications

  • Reliable hormonal contraception with good cycle control
  • Cycle disorders, period pain or heavy bleeding (depending on the situation)
  • Acne (with a suitable choice)
  • Alternative if long-acting methods are not desired

Process & counselling

  • Short consultation about goals, symptoms, medications and medical history
  • Risk check (e.g., blood pressure, migraine, thrombosis risk)
  • Choosing the right pill and explanation of use
  • Follow-up/adjustment as needed (often after about 3 months)

Follow-up & checks

  • Blood pressure checks (especially with estrogen-containing pills)
  • If spotting or side effects occur: adjustment is often possible
  • Warning signs (e.g., new severe headaches, shortness of breath, leg pain/swelling): please contact us immediately
